Bus Trip

Dear Friends,

Avid Gardeners group is taking a bus tour to three very fine nurseries in Portland on Sunday, June 6th. The cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. The schedule is listed below. Please bring a sack lunch with you.

This is an opportunity to visit and shop at Xera Plants, which is a fine wholesale nursery specializing in unusual perennials and shrubs, many for dry areas. Paul Bonine is our speaker this coming Monday, as you see from the above. Xera do not generally sell retail to the public, but they will sell to us on the day we visit. We will also be visiting Cistus Nursery, which offers Mediterranean climate, southern hemisphere, hardy tropical plants, and more. Sean Hogan was our Avid Gardener speaker in April. Their website is www.cistus.com

Last, we are going to Joy Creek Nursery, (www.joycreek.com), which offers not only a fine selection of plants for purchase, but a fine display garden in addition.

Here is the schedule:

8:00 Meet at South Eugene High School. We will meet at North East corner of parking lot. (YMCA side)
8:15 Leave South Eugene High School
4:00 Head back to Eugene
6:00-6:30 Arrive at South Eugene High School

The bus will have plenty of room to transport purchased plants.

Please join us before 8:00 AM, the departure time. We will try to stick to our schedule above as much as possible

Avid Gardeners will provide water and cookies. Please bring a sack lunch.
